“Alright, so this is what’s happening,” Chris said as Max trundled along London Bridge. “We’ve got two gigs coming up, one tonight and the second one tomorrow. And then on Monday we’ve got an audition with a major record label.”

“That’s amazing!” Chloe said.

“Yeah, well, it would be if we actually had some demos to play them.”


“So the plan is,” Matt continued, “that we play the two gigs and use the money we get paid from them to hire studio time and record a couple of demos before the meet and greet on Monday afternoon.”

Chris grinned. “But now we don’t need to worry about all that.” He gestured at the holdall at their feet. “With this cash, we can hire a studio today.”

“Uh-uh, no way.” Matt shook his head. “We should hand this in at the nearest police station, let them deal with it.”

“Aw, come on man!” Chris threw his hands in the air. “This is dirty money, you know it is. Nobody’s going to miss it.”

“Except for a bunch of London gangsters who want it back.”

“But they don’t know we’ve got it!”

“How do you know that?” Matt yelled. “If they’ve got Chloe’s bag, then they know her name and everything about her.”

“But they don’t know where she is or anything, do they?” Chris looked at Chloe. “Besides, we’ll look after you.”

Matt snorted. “Yeah, right, us against a bunch of London gangsters, I don’t think so.”

“Hey, you guys, quit arguing!” Scarlett called from the front. “Let’s go grab a coffee and we can talk about this properly.”

What’s there to talk about? Chloe thought to herself. The money might be stolen, but now we are stealing it from the thieves, and that doesn’t make it right.

But still, it was tempting…
